No7 Smoky Eyeliner

Ever since reading about this on A Beauty Junkie In London and on British Beauty Blogger, I have been desperate for the 11th August to arrive so I could get my paws on the Limited Edition No7 Smoky Eyeliner.  And today is the day - huzzah!  I ran (read: walked slightly faster than my usual snail stroll) to Boots before I got to work, and was pleased to see the new No7 Autumn 2010 collection all displayed and shiny and new.  I actually snapped up two of the Smoky Eyeliners, which are £10 each.  As ever, the staff in Boots were amazing and informed me of various offers, which meant I paid only £5 for each one, and I got a discount on one of the new lipsticks too, in Nude Rebellion, which I'll review separately.

So, this Smoky Eyeliner - why is it so special? Well, it's a powder formula that applies with a sponge tip wand rather than a brush.  Picture to demonstrate, plus a swatch:
The colour is black, but it's very soft and, surprisingly, smokey, so it's not harsh or overpowering.  You can easily build this up though and blend to achieve whatever intensity you're after.  This is just one swipe so you can see that it does give a great colour anyway.
Not the best picture, but I think you can see how lovely and smudgy it is (I ran my finger across after application, as I didn't want to obvious a look).  This is the world's most foolproof eyeliner.  It's so fabulously easy to apply, and you don't actually need to smudge it at all.  The whole point of this product is that it gives you that smoky eye look straight away.  I love the applicator, I love the colour, and I love the look.  I think £10 is probably the absolute maximum I would pay for this though; after all, it is only an eyeliner.
I hope you can see the softness the Smoky Eyeliner creates here.  Worn with Botanics Tinted Moisturiser, Sleek Finishing Powder, Mac Instant Chic blush and 17 Mirror Shine lipstick in Nudist Peach.  Nail varnish is Raspberry by Barry M.

What do you think?  Will you be picking this up anytime soon?

  5. @Rachel Let me know what you think. Am obsessed. Although have discovered that there can be a bit of fallout when you apply so a tissue under the eye on application is a good idea!
